Medic Rescue In Beaver County, there are fifteen school districts and three colleges. Since its inception, Medic Rescue has planned and has been involved in many Students Against Drunk Drivers (S.A.D.D.) drills. The vehicle accident drills usually take place before student's proms or summer vacation.

The S.A.D.D. drills are held in cooperation with the local fire departments, police departments, American Red Cross, BeaverCounty Coroner's Office, Beaver County Sheriff's Office, Pittsburgh medical helicopter services, the local towing services and the school's Students Against Drunk Drivers.

The students are put inside two wrecked vehicles and a re-enactment of the entrapment and rescue of the victims takes place. One of the drivers is arrested for driving under the influence and vehicle homicide. The victims are transported in the ambulances and a medical helicopter. The students are then moved inside their school gym where they are introduced to the arraignment procedure for a D.U.I. The driver must post bond with the local District Justice. The County Coroner then explains to the students how their parents and family will react to the loss of their son or daughter.

The program is very involved and detailed with all emergency agencies working together to impress upon the young people of Beaver County that if you choose to drink and drive, this can happen to you - in a few seconds your life can be changed FOREVER.

It is Medic Rescue's hope that these re-enactments will make the young people stop and think befor they take that drink.
