The cost of an ambulance equipped with heart monitors, pediatric equipment, suction equipment, and other items for sophisticated advanced life support rose from $28,000 in 1978 to well over $100,000 today. An ambulance lasts only four to five years. Crew personnel at Medic Rescue are trained in the most current medical procedures for saving lives, such as the intraosseous infusion process, which makes it possible to administer drugs into bone marrow when it isn't possible to use veins for pediatric patients. They are equipped and trained to use external cardiac pacers to pick up heartbeats through electrical currents, as well as being knowledgeable in many other new lifesaving techniques. As the "leader of the pack," Medic Rescue sets the trends for other ambulance services to follow. It stays abreast of the newest proven technology available to better serve the citizens of Beaver County. The Medic Rescue ambulance fleet of 17 ambulances contains the most sophisticated life-support equipment available in the Emergency Medical Service community. When hospitals began pushing for ambulances to be equipped with 12 lead Monitor Defibrillators (the Life Pak 11), which makes it possible to do a cardiogram in the field and sends the results directly to a physician in the emergency room, Medic Rescue did so. Its staff of Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians are trained in the most current medical procedures for saving the lives of adults and children. Medic Rescue's Community Outreach is involved each and every day with the citizens of Beaver County not only as an ambulance provider, but also as an integral part in the lives of the residents of Beaver County. Medic Rescue strives to prove that "Nobody Cares For You Like Medic Rescue" with community service programs such as the "I'm O.K.A.M - I'm O.K.P.M. Program" that provides daily checks for participating residents, blood pressure screenings, CPR, First Aid, and Automatic External Defibrillators Classes, and S.A.D.D. drills at local high schools to educate students on the perils of driving under the influence of alcohol. Medic Rescue is involved with Beaver County's elderly residents on a daily basis. Medic Rescue personnel volunteer for special events such as carnivals, flea markets, family picnics, dances, and bake sales. All of this service resulted in Medic Rescue being named Number One in Community Service by the American Ambulance Association for two years in a row! Community service programs from Medic Rescue still keep coming! The Community Outreach Department is constantly on the lookout for more ways that Medic Rescue can help residents in Beaver County.
From the beginning, Medic Rescue's long-term existence has depended on a successful Ambulance Membership Campaign in Beaver County. A membership costs only $30.00 per year for an individual and $46.00 per year for a family. Those funds support Medic Rescue's goal of providing Beaver County with the most progressive emergency medical care possible. Today, Medic Rescue is equipped with over 21 ambulances, 15 wheelchair vans, and employs more than 125 medical personnel. Medic Rescue can be seen all over Beaver County, lending a helping hand wherever needed. They continue to live up to their motto,
