Medic Rescue How To Call an Ambulance

Chances are at one point in your life, you will need to call an ambulance for some reason. If you need one in a hurry, you need to know exactly what to say when you make the call.

Information Needed

  • The correct address or road location. The more the driver knows about the location, the less time it takes to arrive at the scene. Also, it is often helpful to include the municipality you are in since many streets within the county have the same street name.
  • The call back phone number from where you are placing the call.
  • The status of the patient. What is wrong with the patient, is the patient conscious, is the patient breathig, etc...
  • Lastly, the age, sex, and name of the patient. Do not hang up; the dispatcher may need to know your name, and depending on your situation or the condition of the patient, the dispatcher may give you instructions to assist the patient until the paramedics arrive.

Giving Directions

When giving directions to the residence, the caller should try to give a few of the following:

  • The nearest cross street
  • A close landmark
  • The distance from a certain intersection
  • The direction of travel a driver should take (North of...,etc.)

Waiting For the Ambulance

When waiting for the ambulance to arrive, the family of the victim or someone close to them should get out all of the medicaions the patient might currently be taking and write down all the names and phone numbers of doctors they may be seeing.

REMEMBER TO SPEAK CLEARLY AND STAY CALM!
